[alei'ksandre], Vicente, eigentlich V. Aleixandre y Mẹrlo, spanischer Lyriker, * Sevilla 26. 4. 1898, ✝ Madrid 14. 12. 1984; gehörte wie die mit ihm befreundeten Dichter J. Guillén, F. García Lorca und D. Alonso zur Generation von 1927; die spanische Lyrik seit dem Bürgerkrieg ist stark von ihm beeinflusst. Aleixandre, dem ein Leiden jede Berufstätigkeit verbot, widmete sich seit 1925 ausschließlich der Literatur. In seinem Werk führt er die Ansätze des französischen Surrealismus zu vollendeter Dichtung. Ihre thematischen Konstanten sind nach Aleixandres Definition ein kosmischer Irrationalismus mit der Feier der Schöpfung und ein solidarischer Individualismus mit dem Preis der Liebe. Aleixandre erhielt für sein Gesamtwerk 1977 den Nobelpreis für Literatur.
